Merlin is a "once in a lifetime" dog. He has been a successful competitor, earning titles in the field, the obedience ring and the show ring.
In May of 1999, Merlin earned his AKC Junior Hunter Title and in December his NAHRA Started Retriever Title. In March of 2000 Merlin earned his Companion Dog Obedience Title in three consecutive shows and placing at each time, and that Fall he earned his Working Certificate Excellent. Merlin earned his NAHRA Working Retriever Title in the Winter of 2001 and his AKC Senior Hunter in the Spring. In the Spring of 2004 he earned his NAHRA Master Hunting Retriever title.
Merlin finished his Show Championship in style with two Sporting Group wins and one Sporting Group 2nd.
In 2007, Merlin at age 10 and still the competitor, earned a Rally Obedience Title.
Along with the many titles Merlin has earned over the years, he has also been awarded two Trophies by the Labrador Retriever Club of the Potomac.
In 2001, Merlin was presented with the Outstanding All Around Labrador Retriever of the Year.
In 2008 he became the first recipient of The Broad Reach Versatility Trophy, which was donated in honor of Martha Lee Voshell.
